As you may or may not be aware, but Japanese koi food, purchased in the EU, is not the same as the Koi food in Japan, e.g. like for like.

It may look the same. packaged the same, but some of the ingredients will be different.

This is due to the EU regulations, requiring that all the ingredients are fit for Human Consumption Prior to being made into Koi Food.

As many of the ingredients in Hikari, Medicarp, Nabori, when produced in Japan are not fit for human consumption, They cannot be imported into the EU. They have to be manufactured within the EU, or made in Japan with different ingredients.

That is why a couple of years ago Hikari Koi food was almost impossible to purchase in the UK.

If you were able to purchase any at all, it had to be OLD Stock.

 IN 1998 we became aware of the changes that were going to be introduced, and took the unprecedented cheek to ask Tokuzo  Miya of Miyaishi Koi Farm and FA Miyaishi Wholesale ( this was the man who formulated Hikari Koi Food, and who now produces his own food, which over 90% of Niigata Koi breeders use) If he would let me have his formula modified for the UK market.
